Urban Study

The RDI team were retained to act for Urban Study, a new student accommodation fund to assist in developing a nationwide student housing portfolio. We acquired four sites for them and facilitated putting together their professional team including architects and planning consultants. We subsequently advised on scheme design and specification and all four sites were successfully taken through planning with consents obtained. Following completion of the developments we have helped to appoint an operator and continue to advise them on an ongoing basis with a view towards an eventual exit strategy.

Pearl Works

We acquired a brownfield site in Sheffield with an existing planning consent for a 52-bed cluster scheme for a student housing developer. Working with an architect we have a long standing relationship with, the scheme was amended to provide 53 studio units and new consent obtained. We advised on a pre-let of 4,500 sqft of retail space at ground level to Tesco and through our network of contacts found a contractor to deliver the scheme on budget. The team successfully sold all elements of the project prior to completion, 53 units off-plan through a sales campaign in Kuwait, Nigeria and Hong Kong whilst the retail investment was sold to a private investor based in Kenya and the freehold investment to a UK ground rent fund.

Dolphin Bridge House

RDI advised upon the specification, pricing and floorplates of this 42 unit development with surrounding river and canal views in west Uxbridge before managing a local Help To Buy release and a sales campaign in select cities in Asia and the Middle East. We co-ordinated the production of all marketing material including a high-quality print brochure, CGIs and a development model made in Singapore.

Sloane St

We acquired this site in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, negotiating a complex joint venture between an established UK residential developer and local landowner. Advising upon pricing, density and mix, design and specification with a view for a UK Help To Buy launch and subsequent global sales campaign. Already with planning for 131 units, RDI continued to advise on approving the scheme’s appeal in a competitive residential market.
